| Steps for troubleshooting if you are unable to broadcast |
While going through these steps make sure the Broadcaster is turned on, and broadcasting. *Please note that if you are using the EarthCam Mobile application from Sprint, you will need to make sure that your image size is no higher than Medium (120pixels). Larger sizes may not be supported by some Sprint phones, and you will be unable to view your webcam. 1) Are you able to see any video in the broadcaster itself when you hit play? Make sure you have your login information entered correctly in the broadcaster. 2) In the start menu you should see a folder called EarthCam, and in that folder there will be a shortcut called "Local Test". If you see your image then go to this page here: 3) Next, try taking a snapshot from the camera using this page here. If you are able to get past step 3 then you should not have any problems seeing your webcam image on your phone. If you are still having trouble, then there may be an issue with your computer setup. If you have any type of firewall (Norton, Windows Firewall, Zone Alarm, etc) turned on you will need to configure it to allow the Broadcaster to access the internet. If you are using Windows XP Service Pack 2, the Windows Firewall is turned on by default, so you will need to give the broadcaster permission to access the internet. Additionally, if you have any kind of internet router (such as a Netgear or Linksys internet router), you will need to open ports to allow the Broadcaster to transmit video properly. If the default port of 4020 does not work, try using port 443, 80, and 8080. When changing ports in the broadcaster you will need to stop broadcasting first, make the changes, and then hit play. Otherwise, the new port change will not take affect. Also, do not forget to make the appropriate changes in your router and firewall settings. If configuring your firewall and/or router still does not work, try disabling your firewall software temporarily, and going through the steps again. The firewall may be preventing the webcam image from showing up. Additionally, if you are using an Internet router, disconnect it and connect your DSL or Cable modem directly to your PC. A configuration page for ports and firewalls for the broadcaster are located here: Information on forwarding ports is available here. |
