If you have a firewall on your computer (Such as Norton Firewall, ZoneAlarm, Microsoft Internet Connection Firewall, etc), you may have to give the Broadcaster software permission to access the internet. Normally, your firewall software will ask you if you wish to grant access to the Broadcaster. Granting permission will allow the broadcaster to function properly. Otherwise, you may need to manually give access to the broadcaster software. If you require assistance with this please consult the manufacturer's help site.

The default port that the broadcaster uses is port 4020. If you use a router in conjunction with your internet connection (commonly used with broadband such as Cable and DSL internet access), you may need to open up this port. A port is like a special 'tunnel' on the internet between you and your destination that transfers very deliberate and specific traffic and information. This process involves going into your router's software control panel, and turning on what is often called 'Port Forwarding'. The exact method of doing so varies depending on which manfacturer your router is from. Please consult your manufacturer's documentation on how to open ports.

Alternatively, you may wish to consult these message boards if you have particular questions on your router's features and documentation.

Additionally, if you wish to use a port other than 4020, then you must change it in the advanced section of the broadcaster control panel. Also remember to open up the correct port in your router if you use one.

Note: If you have a Sony Ericsson P800 or P900 and are having problems viewing your webcam image, try changing the port in the broadcaster software to 80, 8080, or 443.
